About the work
What should people know about your work?
My artworks are full of imaginary, often anthropomorphic figures, sometimes grotesque, emotional, and at other times scary. The creatures often come from literature and from my own inner world. In my diploma work titled Bylo Nebylo (Once Upon a Time), I try to process my thoughts on the themes of womanhood, gender roles and stereotypes with a distinctive and playful sculptural language. Classic and familiar fairy tales are my starting point. From them I select problematic elements, sometimes emphasising them to a brutal degree, at others “correcting” them, depending on my feelings. It is a diverse series, and that diversity includes the materials I use, which include traditional materials like concrete, metal and fiberglass, as well as textiles, synthetic fibres and sugar.
How do you see yourself and your work five years from now?
Five years from now I see myself somewhere abroad in a large studio with a nice tan and a cocktail in my hand. Ideally with lots of money and pets, and with less stress and fewer problems.
