About the work
Miroslava Klesalová’s diploma revolves around her native South-Bohemian countryside and the changes it had to undergo during the 1950s Czechoslovak so-called agricultural collectivization. The communist regime at that time forcefully integrated the natural arrangement of small fields into far stretches, a situation that lasted until the post-1989 restitution of local farmlands. The artist explored how people from her native village perceive such landscape transformations. But the primary source of her work is the historical and contemporary cadastral maps, which Klesalová processes via computer graphics and pictures of quilted unwoven fabric while working with textiles has been her long-term subject.
