About the work
The Pernerova Triptych
Matěj Zikmund explores the changing nature of Prague’s Karlín neighborhood, its genius loci, and its industrial past. Into the rational, orthogonally planned urban landscape and its existing building facades, he introduces abstract signs and symbols which serve to define the area’s future development… and more. In so doing, he follows on his long-term interest in depicting Prague’s architecture on multiple levels and forms, with a particular emphasis on the buildings, their relationships to each other, and the broader geographic arrangement of the entire neighborhood, without forgetting social aspects.
