About the work
The main subject of Markéta Donátová is spirituality linked with archetypal thinking and its return. Her diploma represents an environment in which she stages a fragment of the Dog Demon myth. Viewers can either enter it and be its active participants or merely watch the action developing as a performance. The figural sculpture of the Dog Demon wards an imaginary Dog Castle (architecture in the form of a gate) “in a landscape full of eyes”. Painted-over abstract structures, based on a modular principle (derived from a pentagon, further articulated by an inscribed pentagram), serve here as the bearers of a narrative, and their role is to guide the participants through the story.
