2015–2017 Restoration of Painted Artworks, AVU (Karel Stretti)

About the work

In 2019 and 2020, Ondřej Žegorjak attended one-week workshops headed by two Italian restorers – Professor Paolo Cremonesi and Associate Professor Luigi Orata. They helped him deepen his knowledge, especially as concerns chemical solvents and the consolidation of canvas supports. In the diploma year, he followed in with this by studying the measurement of the qualities of synthetic petrification bitumen and their application on wooden artifacts. He employed these experimental experiences in practice during the impregnation of a decorative wooden frame of the panel painting The Last Judgment by August Cordus, which he also restored. He also restored the Baroque painting Sermon from the Regional Museum in Teplice and the polychromed sculpture Black Man from Kutná Hora and researched murals in St Catherine Chapel at the Karlštejn Castle.
