About the work
What should people know about your work?
I’m restoring the following artworks:
- The decapitation of Saint George, oil on panel, early 16th century.
- Venus by Ladislav Sutnar, acrylic on hardboard, 1960s.
- Saint Anne, polychrome sculpture, circa 1520.
- Virgin Mary of Křtiny, oil on canvas, 1725.
- Saint Francis Receiving the Stigmata Amongst the Saints, fresco, 1614.
A different technique is used to treat each of these artworks and their restoration requires an individual approach, taking into account their material substance and the transformation of the work through time, as well as aesthetic and art historical perspectives. I select the most suitable way of restoring the given artwork so that the intervention is tactful, long-lasting and reversible.
In my theoretical work I examine the topic of the practical use of microemulsions.
How do you see yourself and your work five years from now?
I would like to work in my field of expertise and be able to make a decent living doing so. I’d like to have an adequately equipped studio and perhaps to collaborate with an institution (gallery, museum), possibly as an employee. I would like to have more work experience (for example as an assistant to Paolo Cremonesi) and at the same time to continue with my education both with regards to antiques restoration and other areas of interest. I picture myself being able to devote sufficient time to both my work and career, and to my personal life.
I hope that my work will be meaningful.
