About the work

A Well-Trodden Path

A Well-Trodden Path explores the subject of self-reflection and personal growth, as represented by the figure of The Wanderer, who slowly reveals his identity and direction. For Tereza Frindová, this subject is closely associated with the question of personal freedom in a collective world and with the search for the ideal path towards internally guidedand living. In this way, she tries to combine personal experience with more general concepts such as the yearning for freedom and free decision-making.

In her art, Frindová focuses on the creative process, which is more important for her than the actual outcome. Themes associated with humanness – home, love, freedom – are like elastic threads intertwined in an abstract universe in which every event creates new possibilities for interpretation. In her role as the constructor of this path, Frindová consciously reformulates her memory in order to create a space in which seemingly forgotten symbols and visual fragments from childhood can encounter current impressions and perceptions.

The title of A Well-Trodden Path refers to motifs that Frindová has consistently explored through her introspective commentaries.
