About the work
What should people know about your work?
Language is a code used to communicate and convey information. When we talk about language as a general concept, we can use definitions that include various aspects of this phenomenon. A diversity of definitions also means a multiplicity of approaches and perceptions of language. Language is the main means of communication, a semiotic system enabling the description of things, actions, thoughts and states of mind. A tool used by people to express their notions of reality and for their subsequent communication to others. A set of grammatically correct statements. In the broader sense, it includes other code or communication systems, such as sign language, programming language, the vocalisations of animals, and the like.
How do you see yourself and your work five years from now?
I have some ambitions, of course, as well as some kind of a vision of myself in the future. I believe I’ll know what I want, and that I’ll know what to do it in order to achieve it; I also believe that I will not come up against any doubts regarding my ability to do so. Nonetheless, it is a vision that is still taking shape right now. I feel that this fateful question should be fateful only once. A satisfying journey forwards. Eager plans. Sometimes, however, we simply realise that our position at some point in the future depends on what we are doing right now. Are we doing the maximum to achieve our expectations? And the main thing – are we even aware of time periods in our lives? When we make projections for a future stage of our lives, it’s mostly one that we can compare with something. Perhaps we’d also be surprised by how often we fill our future minds with inactivity, rather than activity. So instead of expectations and disappointment, I will try to opt for activity and surprise. There are no guarantees, of course!
