About the work
What should people know about your work?
I’m not interested in a personal signature-style and I don’t hold any position or stance because I don’t believe in them. The subject of my diploma work is a static image of movement, which is an abstraction – a deduction formulated within the painting. Everything came about without any higher idea; the different elements came together gradually. The overall execution took shape in a simple manner without an interest in any kind of aesthetic in general – it’s like a series of tests rejecting interpretation, since it always leads to the expression of a personal approach.
The paintings were made through a depersonalised (non-participative) process. Colours are applied arbitrarily, using capillary attraction – the ability of fabrics to draw a liquid upwards through capillary forces. In its own way it is a protest against responsibility towards a painting.
How do you see yourself and your work five years from now?
Set for life.
