About the work
What should people know about your work?
Looking through something is important for art. In my case it’s through voile fabric. It started with the view of a church enclosed by scaffolding and a protective net; since it wasn’t possible to determine exactly what was beyond the netting, it created an impression of uncertainty, mystery and a kind of inviolability. In my work I concern myself with recording the moment, people and places around me through a veil. Illusion, vanishing, impermanence, the changing appearance of things, uncertainty, forgetting, impression – these are all present in my art. Last but not least, my work includes family, relationships. The recollection of a fairy story from childhood; we all have our own.
How do you see yourself and your work five years from now?
I see myself heading towards the world of books, rather than paintings. Five years from now I will slowly be collecting material, making drawings and continuing to experiment with printing in my free time; I don’t expect to have much of it since I hope to be fully devoted to my family. I will be thinking about my own artist’s book and by then perhaps even about actually producing it. I would certainly like to continue to make use of, and to deepen, my experience with making paper so as to be again able to find a way to produce the material I need for my art practice.
I will travel and map, record my surroundings, draw. Make a kind of travel diary. I also definitely want to continue working with porcelain. And perhaps I’ll finally connect it to the other half of my practice – graphic art and drawing.
